An art-loving queen — Մլքե արվեստասեր թագուհի
Վասպուրականի արծրունյաց թավարության Մլքե թագուհին էր, որ սիրում էր գրչությամբ և ծաղկեցնելով զբաղվել։Նա Սմբատ Ա․-ի եղբայ Շապուհի դուստրն էր Թամար անունով։Ամուսնանալով Բագրատունյաց դարաշրջանի ամենահզոր արքաներից Գագիկ Արծրունու հետ, դառնալով հայոց թագուհի ստանում է Մլքե անունը։Նրա կարևոր գործերից էր բեհեզի և կտավների համար ոսկե թելերի ստացումը։Պատմիչները վկայում են, որ ազնվական կանաց սիրելի զբաղմունքներից էր թելերի ստացումը և գունավորումը, իսկ թագուհիները առավելապես գործ են ունեցել ոսկե թելերի հետ։ — Queen Mlke of the Artsrun dynasty of Vaspurakan was the one who loved writing and making flowers. She was the daughter of Smbat A.’s brother Shapuh named Tamar. After marrying Gagik Artsrun, one of the most powerful kings of the Bagratun era, she became the Armenian queen and received the name Mlke. One of her important works was behezi. and obtaining gold threads for canvases. Narrators testify that obtaining and dyeing threads was one of the favorite activities of noble women, and queens mostly dealt with gold threads.

He also participated in city construction, particularly church construction. In 915, the construction of a new church began on Aghtamar Island in the south of Lake Vana, which lasted for about six years and was completed in 921. The church was consecrated with the name Holy Cross. It was built under the direction of architect Manuel. On the western facade of the structure, King Gagik Artsruni is carved, holding a model of the church, and Queen Tamar (Mlke) is on the wall of the temple.

Queen Mlke carefully preserved it and handed it over to the Holy Astvatsatsin Church of Varagavank for safe keeping and church use. The Gospel is called the «Gospel of Queen Mlke». In 1830, it was acquired by Grigor Nersesyants. He brought the gospel to Venice as a holy book and donated it to the Mkhitaryan Congregation, where it remains in its library to this day. It is believed that once the Gospel was illustrated in the city of Ani.
